Eldercare FAQs
How does the mediation process work for eldercare?
You begin with an initial call and assessment by phone. One of our mediators will speak with you about the situation and if mediation may be a good alternative. The next step is usually a full consultation to assess the conflicted areas and number of people involved. Typically, then next step is involving the family members and other people in the conflict. Narratives written by those involved followed up by personal interviews help the mediator determine critical issues, perspectives and how to proceed. Either a mediation is scheduled with all parties, or individual mediation sessions with necessary parties. A final report or session is held. At this session, an Action Plan is created to define steps to help mitigate future conflict.
How much will it cost?
Each case is different and situational specific. The hourly rate for mediators is $160. Some families prefer a flat rate. Genesis Mediation is sensitive to families and individuals with limited resources. Mediation always saves families thousands of dollars compared to attorney fees.
